A Keyboard & 31 Days

Day 31

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win.”

– Mahatma Gandhi

Today is my first Kurilane milestone; this post will mark the completion of my first month of blogging on my Positivity 365 Project. As I reflect on the last 31 days, I am amazed with how much this project has already affected my life.

As much as I’ve been focused on only positive thoughts for the last 31 days, I still have some limiting beliefs lurking in my subconscious. It takes time to clear those limiting beliefs and reprogram positive ones in their place.

The irony is that you can’t clear subconscious blocks if you’re not aware of them, and the way you become aware of your limiting thoughts, feelings and beliefs is when an unpleasant situation arises and brings them to the surface. And that’s a good thing. Because that’s when you can work on removing them.

I’ve been blessed with some negative feedback in the last couple days, and I am grateful to the people who brought it to my attention. I am now aware of one belief that I need to clear because of their resistance to my new journey – I believe that people resist change. It doesn’t matter if the change is for the better, it’s uncomfortable. And people prefer what is familiar, so when someone tries to change, people resist.

I’m rocking the boat. And guess what? People are resisting. Now that I’m aware of my belief, I can work on clearing it so that I will no longer resist my new path. No, that wasn’t a typo. I am resisting my new path.

When you find resistance in your path, it is a mirror standing in front of you to show you what is going on inside. It is your own resistance that’s in your way. So thank the people who hold up the mirror for you. They are vital to your progress.

This idea of resistance reminded me of a Sex and the City episode where Samantha’s new PR client, who is also her boyfriend, struggles on his road to success because of the backlash from people in his life. Samantha, who has no limiting beliefs, forges ahead, confident that “first come the gays, then the girls, and then the industry”, and sure enough “a hop, skip and a week” later, the film industry comes calling.

When the caterpillar sheds its skin, it literally digests itself on the path to becoming a butterfly. When you are finally ready to morph into your butterfly, you too will need to “digest” your old self, in order to let the new you shine. There will be resistance along the way. Don’t let it stop you. You have no idea what you’ll find on the other side if you don’t go through the process. Go ahead, listen to your inner voice, your own sweet nectar awaits!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
