Higher Ground

Day 123

“Don’t let nobody bring you down. God is gonna show you higher ground.”

– Stevie Wonder

I wanted to showcase an awesome song in today’s post since it’s the debut of my blog beats concept that I introduced yesterday. I thought of some of my favorite songs from the legends of our times – Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Lionel Richie, but nothing clicked. I started to write a couple of posts but they didn’t inspire a song, so I shifted gears and started writing about déjà vu. That didn’t work either. Then, I decided to just write about my day. Sometimes that works best for me, and I usually find an unexpected gift from the Universe wrapped up in my day that I didn’t realize until I write about it.

I talked to an old friend today who I haven’t spoken with in almost 25 years, so we had a lot of catching up to do. We reminisced about our teenage years, and what we’ve been up to since then. Even though we come from different backgrounds, and we’ve pursued very different career and life paths since we last saw each other, we reconnected because we have some overlap with what each of us is working on independently. We have a common goal to share our unique message with the world.

One thing that really stuck out in our conversation was that we have both gotten to this point in our lives because we believe that we can achieve anything that we want to achieve. What I find most interesting is that the belief was born out of the hardships we’ve experienced in our lives. It was the difficult periods in our lives that inspired each of us to believe that obstacles are merely hiccups on the path to creating the life of your dreams.

“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

– Michael Jordan

There’s my gift from the Universe – the message I want to share with you today. We all go through hard times, but they aren’t meant to stop you from pursuing your dreams. Sometimes, they help you reach your goals by showing you the right path, and sometimes they help you appreciate all the goodness you already have.

“Life is Good. Believe.
Believe in the goodness of life.
Believe in the power of love to heal all wounds.
Believe in the power of faith to overcome obstacles.
Believe in the gifts of laughter and friendship.
Believe in the magic of the universe.”

– Rajni Kurichh

Writing about my day gave me the topic for my post, but I haven’t thought of an inspiring song that fits, so I did a search online to look for some inspiration, and completely out-of-the-blue I found the most fitting song ever. One that I didn’t even know existed, but it’s in complete alignment with today’s post, and with the kind of song I wanted to showcase today in every way. It’s about being all you can be, it’s about positivity, it’s a Stevie Wonder song, and the album has a song that Stevie collaborated with Prince on, which I also didn’t know about. As if that wasn’t enough synchronicity, as I created the KL Beats Boulevard post for the track, I experienced a déjà vu. But that’s not all, wait for it…the song is called Positivity! Synchronicity on steroids!

Talk about a poster child for achievement despite obstacles! I’m sure you already know about what this blind child prodigy has achieved, so I don’t need to talk about how truly inspiring his life and accomplishments are. I don’t think I could’ve chosen a more inspiring living legend to illustrate how a positive attitude can make all the difference in your life experiences. The lyrics of this song say it all.

“You can always look at the negative. But you should always live in the positive. Positivity, ’cause that’s what life’s meant to be. Positivity, and that’s the energy the world needs.”

– Stevie Wonder

No matter what you’re going through or how hard things seem, don’t let anything stop you from moving forward and achieving all that you want in this life. Keep on trying until you reach your highest ground!
