Day 176
“If you put yourself in a position where you have to stretch outside your comfort zone, then you are forced to expand your consciousness.”
– Les Brown
If I had to sum up the message I’ve been getting from the Universe this month with one word, it would be vulnerability. Being vulnerable opens us up to ridicule, rejection, getting hurt, and we are afraid of feeling hurt, rejected and unsafe.
When we go beyond our fears, and expose ourselves to the unknown, it can feel very uncomfortable. Like I’ve said before, when we are faced with an uncomfortable feeling, we do whatever we can to avoid the feeling, and we often use vices to numb ourselves to whatever degree we are not willing to feel and accept our discomfort.
That fear of trying something new, or doing something that we are afraid of is rooted in a belief that it’s beyond our capabilities. When we push past the fear, and allow ourselves to feel uncomfortable, we challenge our limiting beliefs, and find out that we are capable of a lot more than we thought, and the uncomfortable feeling passes.
I’ve been pushing myself out of my comfort zone lately, and it’s helping me become aware of my own limiting beliefs. Not only do we broaden our horizons through this process, but it’s an effective method to uncover the beliefs that are holding us back from doing, being or having what we love. Once we become aware of those limiting beliefs, we can clear them.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
– C.G. Jung
I’m noticing that the more I push past my limits, the more I am presented with messages from the Universe telling me that it’s ok to make mistakes; that when you move beyond your comfort zone, you open yourself up a bit more to your true self, and therefore get that much closer to your goals; and that the uncomfortable part of the journey is where all the growth takes place.
“As you move outside of your comfort zone, what was once the unknown and frightening becomes your new normal.”
– Robin S. Sharma
I’ve realized that the only negative thing that happens when you go outside your comfort zone is that you feel a little pain or discomfort for a short period of time. That’s the worst thing that can happen, and then what? You become a better you. What are you waiting for? If you want a change, if you want to experience more than you are right now, step out of your comfort zone. The realization of all your goals and dreams are waiting for you on the other side of comfortable.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
