Day 182

“Focusing on the good isn’t just about overcoming our inner grump to see the glass half full. It’s about opening our minds to the ideas and opportunities that will help us be more productive, effective, and successful at work and in life.”

– Shawn Achor

Today marks the completion of the first six months of my Positivity 365 Project. As I approached the half-way mark of this project, I started to think about how my journey led to this point. My spiritual awakening began seven years ago, when my father returned to his spirit form. Shortly after my dad died, I changed everything about my life – my career, my home, my lifestyle. That journey has led to today, and this post is the culmination of all that I’ve experienced since then, and how it’s tied to that day, 7 years in the making.

You may be familiar with the fact that every cell in the body is changed over a period of seven years; and we experience corresponding emotional, physical and mental changes in approximate seven-year intervals as well, give or take a couple of years.

For me, the last 7 years have been a struggle and a blessing. My father’s passing made me question what was important to me, and what I really wanted to do with the rest of my life. So, I uprooted my life, and ventured on the path to find out Who I Really Am, and what my passion and purpose is.

It started with an effort to get more healthy and fit. I’d gone up and down with my weight before, so I knew exactly what to do to get back on track, but for the last several years, no matter how much I focused on exercise and eating healthy whole foods, I actually went in the opposite direction. It made no sense that the scale was going up, despite the fact that I was practicing yoga, running several miles a day, and doing “all the right things”. Instead, I developed health issues that I now know my mind manifested to protect me.

Like everything in life, there was a reason for it  – one it would take me years to figure out. In the meantime, on my quest to regain my youthful physical image, and frantic to find a solution, I stumbled upon a program that focused on clearing limiting beliefs. It looked at symptoms such as excess weight from an emotional and mental perspective rather than a physical one. Hmm. Maybe the weight is a symptom, and not the root issue, and that’s why I’m not seeing the results. I need to examine what’s going on inside that’s causing the weight issue and heal that first.

I did look “under the hood”, but as far as I could tell, there were no issues lurking beneath the surface, so I did my best to keep up with food and exercise. The program introduced me to the practice of visualization, and the idea that you can create your reality with your thoughts. Intrigued, I started to soak up all the information I could find, and that’s when I found the Law of Attraction.

That discovery opened up a world of hope and possibilities. Could it be true? Could we really be all-powerful beings, with the ability to create anything we wanted? As I learned more and began to practice what I had discovered, I found that the path to true happiness lies in being open to receiving all the goodness the Universe has to offer, focusing on the positive, and being grateful for the now.

Realizing your goals and dreams begins with accepting your current circumstances with joy and gratitude. When you truly appreciate what you already have, even if it’s not what you desire, it opens the door for your future dreams to manifest by attracting more to be grateful for.

It took a while, many years in fact, to get to the point where I am able to accept my current circumstances with joy and gratitude. I am finally beginning to feel like my life is just as it should be. It took 7 years of learning, changing my thoughts and beliefs from the inside out, plus 6 months of daily positivity to figure out that there was a deeper issue to the weight – my father’s passing took away my sense of safety and security in this world, and the weight was my body’s way of protecting me from my new world of uncertainty. Hindsight.

As this month began, I let go of my struggle and accepted myself just the way I am, and not-so-coincidentally, I started to exercise and focus on my health and fitness goals without any conscious intention to do so. I’m beginning to see the results already, because I changed my state of mind.

When you surrender to the Universe, and accept all your blessings, magic happens.

I know this 7-year cycle of growth, healing and renewal has come to completion because I’m finally beginning to feel safe in my new world, and my body no longer needs to hold on to the weight to protect me. I’m ready to move forward, and the Universe is working to manifest my desires.

Last week I wrote about leaving your comfort zone in order to progress towards the life of your dreams, and I’m definitely at that cross roads, and the Universe is forcing me out of my comfort zone to a world that’s beyond my wildest imagination.

In perfect synchronicity, I wasn’t quite sure what kind of image would go with today’s post, so I looked for images to do with luck, and I came across images of lady bugs. I love lady bugs, so I decided to go with it for my feature image, and then I looked up their symbolism, and this is what I found:

The appearance of a Ladybug heralds a time of luck in which our wishes begin to be fulfilled. Higher goals and new heights are now possible. Worries begin to dissipate. New happiness comes about. This insect also cautions not to try too hard or go too fast to fulfill our dreams. Let things flow at their natural pace. In the due course of time, our wishes will all come true. Alternatively she could be signaling that you can leave your worries behind and that new happiness is on its way. This species of beetle signals you to not be scared to live your own truth. Protect your truth and know that it is yours to honor.

That sums up my entire 7-year journey, and my message to you:

Hold on to your dreams, but count your blessings. Have faith that your wishes will come true, and know that the Universe has your back, no matter how things appear in the moment. Be open to new possibilities – Lady Luck is on her way!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
