Day 255

“9/11, a day that changed this nation forever. RIP to all the fallen heroes. Gone but never forgotten.”

– Unknown

There are so many incredible stories of heroism from 9/11, and it seems more come out every year. I watched a couple of those stories today, and was reminded of a documentary from 2008 called 102 Minutes That Changed America. I was moved by all the amazing first-responders’ acts of bravery. Alongside those brave folks were everyday people affected by the tragedy directly and indirectly, and many of them risked their lives, opened their homes and hearts to strangers, and did whatever they could to help.

That documentary could have easily been called 102 Minutes That Changed The World, because it did. In some ways, not-so-positive, but I would like to think that maybe one positive change that came out of 9/11 is that we are more apt to help someone in need, or show compassion to those who are suffering.

I write about gratitude and spreading kindness often. Today, I want to express my gratitude for all those who lost their lives in service, and to those who risked their lives to help others. To those whose lives have been irrevocably altered by those 102 minutes fifteen years ago, may you find solace in knowing that your lost loved ones made a difference, and they will continue live on as heroes in our hearts and memories forever.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
