Millionaire Mindset

Day 292

“The lesson is simple. If you want to move to a higher level of life, you have to be willing to let go of some of your old ways of thinking and being and adopt new ones. The results will eventually speak for themselves.”

– T. Harv Eker

A friend is having a tough time at work. His department just got a new boss, and almost no-one likes the new boss; they think he’s over-critical and rules with an iron fist. My friend was venting to me about how difficult the work environment has become for him and his colleagues, so I suggested that he stop believing that his new boss has those undesirable traits.

I explained that if he stops expecting the new guy to be a jerk, and stops thinking about how miserable the boss is making him, the situation will change. Interestingly, he noted that there were a couple of people in the office who are indifferent to the new guy, and they don’t have any issues with the new boss.

check-markQuote Of The Day: Inspiring Words by T. Harv Eker

He agreed to my suggestion in theory, but wanted to know how to reconcile it in his mind when the boss does behave in an undesirable manner, or when his colleagues complain to him about it. He doesn’t want to dismiss their grievances, and at the same time, he doesn’t want their complaints to remind him of the “reality” he’s trying to change.

Great question.

How do we live and interact in our current surroundings and still believe that we have received our desire, while waiting for it to manifest in physical form, without coming across as a looney-tune to the people around us, or to ourselves?

Adopt a millionaire mindset.

I paused for a few seconds to come up with the appropriate verb when I wrote the above sentence, and it’s no coincidence that I thought of the word adopt.

adopt

When you adopt something, you mentally accept that even though it wasn’t yours to begin with, you have made it your own. You easily accept the idea that before you adopted it, that was then, and this is now. If you adopt a child, you’re not constantly thinking “this is not my child” – you believe and behave as if s/he is your child now, because s/he is.

It’s the same thing when you adopt a new state of consciousness, you don’t have to pretend that your unwanted circumstance never existed, you simply accept that you no longer embody that state of being. Instead, you now have a pleasant work environment and your boss is agreeable, or you now have a surplus of funds in the bank, or whatever your desired state is.

When colleagues vent about the boss’ behavior, tell them you’d rather focus on the positive and change the subject, or let them vent and change the dialogue in your mind to imagine your colleague saying how surprised s/he is with the boss’ great new attitude.

synchronicity-icon Synchronicity Snippet: I found the feature quote after I wrote this; notice the use of the term adopt?

When your boss acts in opposition to your new belief, respond as if the situation is the way you want it to be, to the best of your ability. For example, if your boss gives you a hard time for something that wasn’t up to his standard, in your mind, imagine that he’s praising you for a job well done instead, and thank him for his feedback.

This response works for your new and old state of consciousness, as well as for your boss. Your boss will think that you’re responding well to his criticism, when in fact you didn’t even pay attention to it, and yet, you both walk away happy.

Are you starting to see how quickly your desired new reality will manifest if you stick to your new script?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
