You’ve no doubt heard the saying “life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” And it’s true, that’s where you push your boundaries and challenge yourself. It’s also where you discover things that you never knew about yourself. But self-discovery doesn’t have to be as ostentatious as jumping out of a plane, it can be as simple as taking your mind to new places, and allowing yourself to imagine a new world.

You may recall Pam Grout’s energy experiments I did last month. I came across some fun creativity exercises on her website that will help to expand your mind, unleash your imagination, and get your creative juices flowing. They’re great activities to inspire your kids, and spark their imaginations as well. Here are a few of Pam’s suggestions:

1. Come up with the title of your autobiography.
2. Invent a new type of soup.
3. Paint your fingernails 10 different colors.
4. Look through the want ads and find a job which you clearly aren’t qualified for, but might like if you were. Compose a cover letter, tell your future employer why you’d like the job. Stick it in the mail with your resume.
5. Make a puzzle.
6. Make your own coloring book.
7. Try a Buddhist meditation ritual.

Exercise #2 is my feature image – I imagined a soup like alphabet soup, only instead of making words with letter-shaped pasta, it works with your thoughts. While eating my corn o’copia soup, you vividly imagine a desire and step into the dream as if it were your reality, and every time you “capture the feeling“ of having received it, your desire manifests.

Wouldn’t it be nice if life worked that way?

Guess what? It does, only you don’t have to eat the soup.
