Entelechy

Day 348

“Sometimes in tragedy we find our life’s purpose. The eye sheds a tear to find its focus.”

– Robert Brault

My mission this year has been to keep a positive attitude 24/7/365. Sometimes, that means finding the good in a “bad” situation. It’s been challenging at times, and I don’t always succeed, at least not right away.

Those are the times that I look back and see how things that I thought were awful in the past turned out to be a blessing or a stepping stone to a better place; to something that I wanted – often to something I wished for.

Good In Everything

I’ve said this so many times that it could be an alternative name to my blog –

There is something good in everything.

Everything happens for a reason, always. Our experiences are designed to shape us, to define us, and to help us grow into the best version of ourselves.

Aristotle believed that this ability to grow into one’s highest potential is stored within each of us. He referred to it as “entelechy.” Entelechy is a vital force that motivates and guides one toward their highest self-fulfillment.

So, even the “bad” stuff moves us towards our desires –

There’s good stuff in the bad stuff.

see-the-good

The bad stuff forces us to do something, to get out of our comfort zone and “fix” things, to change something for the better. Ultimately, the “bad” stuff forces us to look within and find our best selves.

So, when something seemingly bad happens, instead of getting upset, take a few minutes to see what good could possibly come out of it, or be hidden in it. When you focus on the good, you attract more good into your life. Are you ready to start looking for the good in everything?

  1. Thanks Monika. That’s a tough question; I don’t have a clue either. When I read about people who have overcome incredible tragedies and used their experience to help the world, I am always so overwhelmed with joy and awe for their spirit! I can only hope that we don’t have to find out! God Bless! 🙂

  2. very true. This is my approach towards life too. Sometimes people ask me how would I react if I lost one of my children, if I would stay so optimistic and then I say “I don’t have a clue”. And I don’t have a clue but maybe because of my approach it will never happen. And when I get this question I always think about Katie Byron and her teaching.

  3. Thank you for your insightful comments Andrei – I agree that it is both challenging and encouraging, and does lead to personal growth – making us better in the end! 🙂

  4. Everything happens for a reason – such a very powerful statement. It is both encouraging and challenging. Encouraging in the sense that everything serves a purpose while challenging in the sense that often the purpose seems so vague and blurry that we have to delve deep within the dark recesses of our being to find the answers, sometimes awakening “things” which may hurt us once more. Any way we look at it, that’s still the beauty of life. Our perspective play a major role on how we approach life and our respective circumstances.
There’s good in everything!-this has been one of my favorite mantras. Because there’s a powerful being (The Almighty) who plans and wills everything for a greater purpose beyond us and our understanding.
Awesome post, Rajni! Thank you. 🙏
