A Scent for Your Thoughts

Day 42

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.”

– Lady Bird Johnson

I didn’t get enough sleep last night, Ippa woke me up at 3 am, and thought it was a good time to play, so I was feeling a bit sluggish today. I lit some of my favorite candles to perk me up – Lilac Blossoms, Sweet Wild Honeysuckle, Pink Hibiscus, and Patchouli.

About an hour later, the fragrant floral scents were in full force, wafting through the air. It almost felt like I was in a field of flowers in full bloom on a perfect spring day. My mood got noticeably better, I felt more awake and happier.

There’s something about the smell of flowers that elevates the spirit.

With that thought in mind, I decided to do a little investigating to find out why the candles put a pep in my step so quickly. What is it about the smell of flowers that elevates mood? Turns out that a floral scent is a mood manipulator. I suppose I knew that since aromatherapy uses aromas to enhance mood and overall well-being, and many aromatherapy scents are floral.

When you’re in a good mood, you see everything in a better light, and then you attract more things that make you happy. Not only that, but your subconscious mind goes to work to bring memories matching your mood to the fore. So, it follows that if your subconscious brings memories from the past to your awareness when you smell florals, then you can use floral scents to create happy memories of the future.

Light a floral scented candle before you begin your visualization or meditation practice, or pick up a bouquet of your favorite sweet smelling flowers when you need a little boost, and let the good vibes take over. When you’re in that happy state, imagine that you are living the life of your dreams with feeling and faith. A little scent will go a long way to help manifest your desires.

Oh, and by the way, no headache today!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
