Day 28
“If you prick us, do we not bleed?
If you tickle us, do we not laugh?
If you poison us, do we not die?”– Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice
I was raised in a home with liberal thinking. I wasn’t taught to follow any particular dogma, but to have tolerance and respect for different points of view, and to be open to all thoughts and ideas. I was taught that no matter what your faith is, no matter what name you give our Creator, we are all the same, we are all interconnected, we are One. The law of attraction also teaches that all of creation is within you; that it is you; that you are a divine expression of the Universe. In a word, OM; The Sacred Sound. The Creative Force. Peace. Everything. Nothing. The Infinite. The Ultimate Reality. Truth. The Cause of the Universe. The Essence of Life. Self-Knowledge. All That is.
My dad used to tell me a story of when he first came to Canada in the early 60’s, and some Jehovah’s Witnesses came calling. He invited them in, offered them tea and biscuits and talked with them for hours. He listened to their message with interest and respect, firm in his own faith and beliefs. He then shared his views with them. Not only did they exchange ideas, but he sent them away with some reading material on Hinduism and told them to come back the following week to discuss what they had read. And they did!
When I was in my early twenties, I started pondering the philosophical questions. Who are we? Where do we come from? Who is God? Where is God? I asked my dad about God and religion. He handed me an encyclopedic sized hard cover book about all the world’s religions and said “read it and decide for yourself“. I did read it, and I still have the book. Ultimately, I decided on OM.
This morning, I received an email with a prayer for healing. My initial reaction was to gloss over the prayer and not really read it. Then something made me take a second look and I read the words, without prejudice. They resonated with my own thoughts and beliefs; with the principles of the law of attraction. The message I received from the prayer inspired today’s post; to know that you have a divine birthright to abundance, to have faith that you have already received that which you ask for, to remember who you really are, and to find the courage within to pursue your dreams and let your light shine.
I leave you with the prayer to soak up the message that speaks to you.
St. Theresa’s Prayer
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
