Got Your Back

Day 228

“Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.”

– Pete Carroll

As the saying goes…It takes a village.

Like I said in yesterday’s post, children need support and encouragement to help bring out the greatness within. Whether you’re a child just starting out, or an adult embarking on a new journey, the people who cheer you on, and give you the courage to keep going in hard times serve a very critical role.

You still have to do the work to overcome obstacles, and let go of your fears on your own, but when have someone in your corner, and you can harness the energy of your hardships and turn them into something positive, you will manifest your dreams.

I read a heart-warming story this morning about a 2-week old kitten who had all but given up on life, and wasn’t responding to anything her human rescuer tried. Then, the woman’s dog took the frail kitten under her paw, mothering and cuddling the little thing, and suddenly the kitten began to eat, and flourish.

It was a cute story, but I hadn’t planned to share it with you until I started writing this post about the importance of support from the people in our lives, and how their energy helps to lift us up. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to say until I remembered a video that I had bookmarked a few weeks ago with same message. Synchronicity.

The video highlights the amazing support systems behind some of the Olympic athletes. Today’s post is a nod to all the parents, mentors, friends and loved ones who offer their unwavering love, sacrifice and commitment to help others realize their dreams. Get a tissue ready, and take a look:

Of course, if you’re striving for gold, you likely have a team of gold medal-worthy support behind you too, like the parents of the Final Five U.S. gold medalist gymnastics team. The NY Times caught these parents on film as they watch their daughters perform on the world stage.

None of us can do it alone – love and support, the ability to overcome obstacles and turn adversity into something positive are all necessary to live a happy and fulfilling life, and when you can put all of those elements together, you’ve got gold.

Thank you village, for your greatness!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
