I initially included this first principle of positivity in the introduction post to my The Thirty-One Days Of December series, and then I thought that this most significant practice deserves its own post, plus my OCD wants an individual post for each of the Principles of Positivity – I know, I’m working on the perfectly imperfect thing.

So, not much of a surprise – whether you’ve been with me from the beginning or you’ve noticed my closing salutation on every post, every day this year, I’m sure you can guess – the first and foremost practice that will change your life in ways you can’t imagine is gratitude. Gratitude is the single most important vibration that the universe responds to. You simply cannot attract abundance into your life without being grateful for what you have, and you cannot be grateful without being positive.

I’m talking about real gratitude. It’s not about saying thank you – the words don’t mean much if you don’t really feel it, and the words alone won’t make a difference. Whereas, if you truly feel gratitude for everything in your life, from the sun shining every morning, to the socks that keep your feet warm, not only will you always be happy, but the Universe will shower you with more reasons to be happy and grateful.

If you don’t practice anything else, this practice alone has the power to transform your life. Make a conscious effort to be grateful for each day as soon as you wake up, and count your blessings every night. Let’s start right now.
