Day 352
“When you find your path, you must not be afraid. You need to have sufficient courage to make mistakes. Disappointment, defeat, and despair are the tools God uses to show us the way.”
– Paulo Coelho
We all make mistakes. Sometimes even big disastrous ones. And that’s ok. It’s what we do afterwards that matters.
Today’s principle of positivity touches on two principles I’ve already talked about: loving yourself and forgiving yourself, but we’ve been socialized to believe that mistakes are “bad”, and we’re very good at beating ourselves up when we do make a mistake, so this topic warrants a post of it’s own. First and foremost, know this:
Your mistakes do NOT define you. The world is better with you in it.
I don’t really believe in mis-takes. I believe that everything happens for a reason and we are actually un-mistakable! In other words, we can’t make mistakes because they’re part of the grand design; and serve a valuable purpose in our lives. The magnitude of the mis-take is directly proportional to the course correction needed, so the further you are from your desire, the bigger the mis-take.
“Of course I make mistakes. I’m human. If I didn’t make mistakes, I’d never learn. You can only go forward by making mistakes.”
– Alexander McQueen
If you think about some of the mistakes you’ve made along the way, you will notice that they help you. Don’t beat yourself up when you fumble. Forgive yourself, and realize that your mistakes are a good thing. Let’s lighten our load a bit shall we?

Our life, the triumphs and mistakes made, are part of a plan and part and parcel of a grand design. I love this perspective 🙂
Great post, Rajni!
