Soothe Your Soul

Day 122

“Music happens to be an art form that transcends language.”

– Herbie Hancock

I’ve been listening to a lot of my old school music lately, and that’s brought one of my goals to the fore. As a matter of fact, I’ve had the topic of this post written in my head since the first week of January, and these quotes in my list of draft quotes for a couple of months, waiting for this day to come.

Music has the ability to lift your spirits, to transform your state of mind, to stir your soul. It can bring you to tears or fill you with joy, it can instantly transport you to another world, or make you feel like time is standing still. That’s powerful.

We can use this tool to help us visualize what we are trying to manifest.

“Music in the soul can be heard by the universe.”

– Lao Tzu

About a year ago, before I ever conceived the idea of Kurilane, I had an idea to create a site that featured a song of the day. When I created this site, that was one of the first things I thought of. I had planned to add a feature song to each post, I was going to call them blog beats. I also came up with a term for “spinning” music on my blog: blog jockey, like disk jockey or video jockey. Yes, I know, that would make me a “BJ”. I was initially going to title this post “A New Kind of BJ“, but I decided to keep it PG 13.

I didn’t just want to link to another site for the music, I wanted to create a database of songs with tags like “happy” and “possibilities” and “hope”, that would help you pick the right songs to motivate and inspire you; songs that would help you manifest your dreams.

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.”

– Victor Hugo

Many times, when I’m writing a post, I’m reminded of a past experience, and then a song that I associate with the situation or time period pops into my head out-of-the-blue. The song helps conjure up the memory, and in turn helps me gain clarity with the thought I’m writing. Every time that happens, I am reminded that I need to launch my music database.

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

– Berthold Auerbach

I had already thought of a menu name for the music “avenue”, and built out a site for it at the beginning of February, but I haven’t had the time to build the database of music yet, so, to my dismay, it’s been sitting here waiting for me to flip the “on” switch for months.

Today, I decided to take my own advice and flip the switch. It doesn’t have to be perfect to start, I just have to get started with baby steps. I know if I just trust the process, I will realize my vision, one step at a time. As I started to add the first few songs from the template I had created months ago, I realized that not only was this an inspirational music database, but I had created a one-stop shop for online music.

I often find myself performing half a dozen searches to find all the details and information I want to know about a song – the artist, the album, the album artwork, the writers, the genre, the year it was released, the lyrics, the wikipedia page, and a place to buy the single or the album. When I looked at the template I created three months ago, I had already included all of that information in it. Synchronicity. I really am a blog jockey! 🙂

Music has a soothing and relaxing effect on the soul, and elevates your energetic vibration. So, it is with great excitement that I unveil Kurilane Beats Boulevard today. KLBB is a place where you will find songs to help you manifest the life of your dreams; a place where you will be transported into a world of magic; a place where your imagination will come to life.

I invite you to take a look around, make yourself at home in my virtual studio. Sit back, relax, chill. Imbibe the beats and soothe your soul.
