Bumps Along The Way

Day 193

“The harder you fall, the heavier your heart; the heavier your heart, the stronger you climb; the stronger you climb, the higher your pedestal.”

– Criss Jami

I wrote a post a couple of days ago where I completely neglected to see the good in a situation. When I realized it a day later,  I was tempted to go back and modify the post but then I thought better of it and decided to write this post about it instead – the message:

It’s ok to fall, we all do. Just get back up, dust off and keep going.

In the post, Dealer’s Choice, I shared a link to a story of a dog that had been “dumped at an animal shelter for a dumb reason”. I gave you the option to behave like the owners of this dog, or to behave like the rescue team of the cow and calf in another story. Where did my good in everything attitude go? What I didn’t see at the time was that it’s a good thing that the owners took that dog in need of veterinary care to the shelter instead of leaving him to suffer. The article states the owners didn’t give a reason, but likely that they didn’t want to deal with the dog’s skin condition. Maybe they couldn’t afford it, or whatever their reason. It doesn’t matter, the thing is, it’s a blessing for the dog. He got the medical attention he needed, and hopefully a new home where he will be treated will love and care.

I opted to write about it today because I needed to remind myself that it’s ok to fall, nobody’s perfect, and when you make a mistake, or don’t live up to expectations – yours or others’, don’t beat yourself up. You may even want to feel sorry for yourself and wallow for a while, and that’s ok. Take your time. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up without judgment. Then, when you’re ready, get back up, and swing for the fences.

Your pedestal is waiting!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
