You Got This

Day 211

“I can’t do it” never yet accomplished anything. “I will try” has performed miracles.”

– George P. Burnham

I’m over a week behind with my posts right now. Yesterday, I spent much of my day working on my Lose Your Mind, Find Your Soul series, oblivious to the fact that the 2016 Rio Olympic Games opening ceremony was last night.

As I was putting the next several posts in my series together, I stumbled across a bunch of empowering videos that seemed to be tailor-made for this series aimed at helping you break through your perceived barriers. Among them was an ad that’s the perfect antidote to today’s limiting belief: I can’t.

We all have limiting beliefs about what we can and cannot do – they are rooted in fear. The underlying fear is that our abilities and talents are fixed and that we can’t excel beyond a certain level. I can’t do this because I might fail / get hurt / don’t have the resources I need. I can’t have what I want because I have ____ limitation. If we believe we cannot do, or be or have a certain desire, then we can not.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”

– Henry Ford

We know that these beliefs live in our subconscious, and that’s where we have to reprogram them. Fortunately, this particular belief also lives at the conscious level for most of us, where we can take action to clear it as well.

“When you justify why you can’t do something, you are vocalizing the association your subconscious has created between two separate functions to support your underlying belief.”

– Rajni Kurichh

I can’t quit my job even though I hate it because I have a family to support. The functions are independent until you associate them – you can quit the job you hate and support your family with a job you love, or with one of a plethora of other ways to earn an income.

Here’s a short tapping script that’ll help to clear your ‘I can’t’s:

As well as using EFT Tapping, one way to help reprogram those beliefs is to find proof that your desire is doable. You can use positive affirmations, and look at examples of others who have already accomplished what you are striving for to help you realize that anything is possible.

Hours before the Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony aired, I added Nike’s Unlimited You ad to this post to show you examples of others who not only thought they could, but they did…and then I saw this ad play during the opening ceremony. Synchronicity.

Whether you believe you have mad skills or not, keep trying.

“The important thing in life is not the triumph, but the fight; the essential thing is not to have won, but to have fought well.”

– Olympic Creed
